The team arrived in Bruntingthorpe last night without too much trouble. We got the car setup first thing this morning which later flew through scrutineering and the associated tests and all static events were completed to a high standard today with lots of positive feedback. The design judges have been back to examine the car further as they were very impressed during the design event. No results yet but they will hopefully posted tomorrow. Hopes are high for tomorrow's dynamic events - figure of 8, acceleration and sprint. We'll work out how to put up pictures tomorrow! Weather is smashing.
Provisional results so far put us in fourth place overall. We attained excellent results by placing second in the Design and Acceleration events. We spent this morning adjusting and testing the suspension setup and are happy with the handling for the endurance event this afternoon. Our colleagues at Chalmers (aka Queen's Formula International) have posted the fastest time so far but unfortunately a clutch problem has put a halt to their race.
The final scores saw QFR placed 8th overall of the 70 that competed and were the 3rd highest placed UK team. The car proved its abilities when it posted the second fastest acceleration time of 4.14 seconds over 75m and the team's hard work paid off when they received consistently high scores in the static events. The climax of the competition was seeing the car complete the gruelling endurance race, something not all teams can manage. We also brought home a prize for runner up in the design event, a significant achievement for QFR. Thanks go to all our sponsors and supporters, particularly from Queen's Unversity Belfast.
